As we get into March, posts on Folderol will be a little hit and miss, except for March Mammal Madness recaps. However, we're ending February on this very cool story about a Roman mosaic (with Celtic influences, perhaps?) recently discovered in London. In related news, the Museum of London Archaeology looks amazing.

 Hello and happy Friday!

From my mom: This looks like a great place to visit. I'm especially intrigued by the secret room behind the bookcase!

Ernie Smith has a great piece about keeping focus in the middle of everything that's going on around us right now.

And to finish off, Florence and the Machine have a new song to take us into the weekend. Have a safe and spiffy time, everyone. See you next week.

The March Mammal Madness is beginning! The servers are a bit overloaded at the moment, but the information is (eventually) there.

Today: explanations! Mostly, anyway.

What is great art all about? (This is a YouTube channel)

What's the latest weirdness in the world? (Not really an explanation, because how can one explain all the world's weirdness? Instead, this is a place to see some examples.)

 Today, art and history.

Who's buried in Yeats's tomb? Probably not Yeats, actually!

The famous bust of Nefertiti is not in Egypt, but in Germany, and it's a long story.

Marcel Duchamp's works are online in one place! Go and visit to brighten up your Monday.

 Happy Friday!

It's been a busy week here, so just one link today. You may have seen the video of a former ballerina remembering her choreography before, but many details were wrong. Here's the story of Marta Gonzales and her dance career, plus the video of her later years which went viral a while ago.

Have a safe and spiffy weekend, everyone. See you next week.

By now, you have probably heard of Wordle. But have you heard of Worldle, the game which shows you the silhouette of a country and gives you guesses, with hints about how far away your guess is and from which direction? No? Then go check it out!

Apparently, an ad during the Super Bowl featured a QR Code that people could scan straight off the TV. Enough people tried it that it crashed the database. But, more importantly, doesn't this remind people of Silver Shamrock? Don't scan random QR codes, people!

In more wholesome news, we've been doing a lot of birdwatching this winter, thanks to the feeders on our deck, and Birdwatching HQ shows a lot of the same wildlife we see via 24-hour live cams and helpful identification guides to what you're seeing! I got a trail cam for my birthday and so far, it has captured images of birds, squirrels, a cat (ours), people (us), and raccoons. (We're still figuring out the best place to put it.)

Happy Monday and Happy Valentine's Day! Back soon with links.

 Happy Friday!

There's a game going on this weekend, with all kinds of weird bets happening, including Cincinnati and Los Angeles museums.

March Mammal Madness is stirring beneath the ice, and we'll be back with our rodent friends to recap the action.

Have a safe and spiffy weekend, everyone. See you next week.

Greetings! Here is an artist you should most definitely check out, especially this month: Betye Saar.

Tis the season for snowplows. Do yours have names? Minnesota recently named a few of theirs, and I really like Ctrl-Salt-Delete.

An update to a link from way back: McBroken is still up and running and telling you which McDonald's machines are NOT up and running.

Closer to home, a nearby restaurant is trying out server robots which look like cats!

And in the wider world, UNESCO has added 35 traditions to the cultural heritage list, all of which are fascinating.

Happy Monday, all!

Via Cassandra: MÃ¥neskin has hit the big time in the states, performing on Saturday Night Live. Glam rock isn't dead yet!

Traveling further back in time, MoMA has a film series featuring actresses in the pre-code era of movies. These all look amazing.

Greetings. We're here, but weather and other circumstances are slowing us down. Back soon with more links.

Happy February. We're all watching the skies for oncoming weather craziness, but here's something nice and nostalgic. Put in your location and be transported back in time to the early '90s or so, listening to the Weather Channel before it was taken over by, well, everything modern.
